When opening a piping system, it becomes exposed to the atmosphere and there is always some danger of damage to the surrounding areas or injury to the technician. The greatest dangers are from steam, hot water or hazardous chemicals causing burns slips and falls from substance spills and an increase of the severity of electrical shock. Water from open cooling towers can spread disease.
