Why Cypress College?

Hospitality and tourism worldwide will account for $1.83 trillion in annual income revenue in the coming decade, with travelers spending $5 billion a day. In the U.S., tourism is the country's largest service export, responsible for a $26 billion trade surplus.

Tourism is currently the country's third largest retail industry, employing 68 million directly and an additional nine million indirecty. With its expansive growth, 300,000 new jobs are created each year in the U.S. alone, offering enormous opportunities for career development.

In California, travel and tourism spending amounts to $75.4 billion annually, providing employment for more than 1 million Californians in hotels, restaurants, and tourism providers. In 2001, California's share of the domestic travel market was 11.6%, making it the most visited state in the U.S.

"When I recruit from Cypress College HRC, I get applicants who are looking for a career, not just a job. When hired, the Cypress College students' positive attitude, excellent preparation and knowledge of the hospitality industry benefit our customers, our hotel and and our entire workforce."

- Jeanette Jones, Human Resources Director, Anaheim Marriott Suites
