Culinary Arts Program

As well as meeting the standards of the American Culinary Federation, the Culinary Arts Program at Cypress College is only one of two schools in Orange County to offer the Culinary Arts Certificate, Apprentice Certificate and Associate in Science Degree curricula.



Culinary Arts Certificate
The Culinary Arts Certificate program provides students with basic competencies in the methods of food handling, cooking, and culinary management. It includes exposure to various styles, and proper use of culinary applications and equipment. The program is designed to help students develop a working knowledge of what is required to be successful for fast track culinary management potential.

Associate of Science Degree Culinary Arts
The Degree provides students with the mastery and understanding of culinary concepts and techniques, industry-standard competencies in the methods of food handling, preparation, and kitchen management, exposure to various culinary styles and cuisines, and the proper use of culinary applications and equipment.

To earn an A.S. Degree in Culinary Arts, the student must complete the Culinary Arts Program Certificate for 44 units, complete Cypress College’s General Education requirement for 25 units, satisfy the cultural pluralism and reading requirement, complete all major coursework with a grade “C” or better, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. At least 50% of all major coursework must be completed at Cypress College.
