SB 70 (Scott) -- Economic Development and Career Technical Education Reform Initiative
The Governor's 2005-06 Budget called for expanded vocational and career technical educational opportunities for middle school and high school students, and improved linkages between the career and technical curricula of the public schools and community colleges. Toward those objectives, Senate Bill 70 provides $20 million to the California Community Colleges. The funds, which became available January 1, 2006, will be used for several types of projects:
"Quick Start" Partnerships, which will enhance linkages and pathways between secondary schools and seclected economic and workforce development initiatives in community colleges
Projects that will grow program capacity and infrastructure
Projects that will strengthen Career and Technical Education sectors at secondary school
